Palmer PTSA 2018-2019 School Year

The Palmer PTSA is looking for parents that would like to be involved in planning the activities for the 2018-2019 school year. The nominating committee is taking nominations for PTSA board positions for the next school year. This is a great way to stay involved in your student’s middle school. If you are interested in getting more involved and would like to learn more about the Palmer PTSA board opportunities, please email:

Sham O’Grams

Send some luck to your friends on March 16th. You can buy your Sham O’Gram in the school store every morning March 5-15 for just $1–your friend will get your card and some sweet treats.  PLUS, you’ll both be in the drawing to win a Starbucks Gift Card!!!

Spring Book Fair

The Spring Book Fair is coming March 12th-16th!
Shop a great selection of books and book-themed items, perfect for enjoying over Spring Break!

The book fair will be open each day from 8:30 – 4:15 p.m.

We couldn’t offer the book fair without our wonderful parent volunteers!
Click the Sign Up Genius link to volunteer for short shifts in a variety of areas.

8th Grade End-of-Year Activities

Mark your calendars for the 8th grade activities this year. We will have a Spring Dance on April 20th from 7pm-9pm and the Carnival & Slide Show on May 23rd during the school day. If you’d like to be involved with any of the planning, contact Heather Galloway at — our next meeting will be on March 21st at 7pm, location TBD.

If you haven’t done so already, please send your student’s baby picture (anything from age 5 and under). Please email the picture to or bring your physical picture into the front office as soon as possible. Please indicate your student’s first and last name and homeroom teacher (either in the email or written on the back of the picture). Please note: This picture, along with the student’s yearbook photo, will be used in the slideshow and may be pressed to a permanent disc for distribution to students.

Jumping World 8th Grade Spirit Night

8th graders, make sure to join in this spirit night, and have a blast with your friends before middle school draws to a close. We’ll be at Jumping World on March 13th from 5pm-9pm. The cost will be $15 for 2 hours of jumping.

A portion of the proceeds will go towards the 8th Grade End-of-Year Activities (but ALL Palmer students can join in the fun).

*We’re still having our regularly scheduled food Spirit Night at Guston’s on the 15th, so you can show your Palmer Spirit throughout the week!

Destiny’s Daughters of Promise

Nx Gen is a leadership development program for teen girls. Meetings are held from 4:15-6:00 pm on (you will need to add the day based on each school before sending it to the person. See the days they meet below). For parents interested in registering a student for the program, click the link:

411 from your School Social Worker

Absences due to vacation/family trips, outside of school sanctioned holiday breaks, are considered un-excused.

Nonfiction Reading
If your student is like most his age, he reads mostly fiction. In language arts in middle school, the class will read lots of nonfiction. The reason is to prepare students for high school, college, and careers where informational text is important. Here are a few suggestions of ways to help at home.

First, leave the newspaper out and mention articles about topics that affect him. For instance, stories on road construction where he rides his bike, sports events and festivals you might attend. Also, encourage your student to read more nonfiction books about things he’s interested in.

Car Pool Rules

For the safety of all the children, please do not stop to pick up your student in the afternoon until your car is inside the blue painted lines. Also, if you would prefer to park your car, we ask that you meet your child at the crosswalk and walk with them back to your car.

Early Check-Out Procedures

Please help us to maximize your students learning experience by minimizing classroom interruptions. We ask that if your child needs to leave school early, please SEND a note with him/her to school. Your child should take the note to the Attendance Office where he/she will be given an early dismissal pass. That way, your child will be waiting for you in the Attendance Office when you arrive. Your help with student check-out will be greatly appreciated! Due to verification we cannot accept dismissals over the phone.

Parents, please remember that you need to stop by the front office to sign in as a visitor anytime that you are in the building. This applies to the mornings before the 8:50 homeroom bell as well as after school.  This is for the safety of all the students and staff in the building.

Yearbooks are still available to order!

To reserve your book, simply go to OR call 1-866-287-3096 and use order number 2401. There is a No Additional Fee to order through the Order Center.
You can also order your yearbook at Palmer MS; please make your check payable to Palmer Middle School.
